snowmass mountain

so we got back from the mountains again. This trip was really cool and worth the drive. We left late on friday. Probably aroud 4 or 5. After a log drive all the way to Glenwood springs and then south to marble. From Marble, we had to turn the 4wd on in the 89 Tacoma pretty soon. The road was getting really crazy and we decided not to keep going. There is no way we would have stopped if the tacoma was starting properly,but pushstarting the truck would be impossible on most of the road. We got our bags and with the headlamps on we took off on the road. Remembering the map, we made it after like 3 hours to the trailhead, finding a good road all the way. In fact, we passed the worst part of the road in the truck. The rest of the road would have been a piece of cake. it was 1am when we arrived and pitched the tent. Vera and I decided to sleep outside, cause the sky was clear and it wasnt really cold. At 5-30 I woke up seeing 3 people leaving to the mountain.Unfortunately, we slept late and right at 9-30 we knew there is no way we can make it to the summit and back without getting trapped in an afternoon storm and rain, which are so common in these mountains in the summer. Anyway, we decided to hike up to the lake and as far under the face of the mountain as we could. It was really worth it, and the scenery was just unbelievable. I think this part of the state is the most beutiful right after the small area around Loveland pass. I hope I make it back to this area soon. If anyone has the chance and will actually go there, go check out the rigid air pass.It is a long long hike, but its supose to be the shit with the crazy view of maroon bells mountain and the whole crazy steep mountain range.
unfortunately my digital camera died last weekend on Mt.blanca... It got wet in a storm and is really dead now...

road trip part1

Ackoliv jsme uz pres tyden v Boulderu v Coloradu, jeste se mi nepodarilo hodit na net nic z naseho road tripu po USA. zacnu proto popradku. 10.cervence jsme vyjeli z Chicaga do Manhattanu, kde sme stravili asi 4 dny stehovanim mojich veci, hranim blues:-) a balenim na cestu... no a jedno patecni rano sme vyrazili smer colorado.napalili sme to pres Boulder, kde sem nechal spoustiu nepotrebnejch veci u Sheridana v garazi a pak sme pokracovali dal na zapad po I-70. Pred tunelem sme zahnuli na jih a prespali v loveland passu, kde sme stravlili mnoho noci s klukama z hunting ski teamu:-)
rano se mi podarilo najit flintuv fotak, kterej ztratil nekdy v breznu v po pas hlubokym snehum, na jednom z nasich vystupu po okolnich horach.(ten den vznikla i ta fotka kde flint leze s lyzema privazanejma na batohu). Zkratka a dobre, nasel sem fotak, zusil jsem ho zapnout a... zapnul se a ukazal mi fotky ze zimy... Pentax kamo...4 mesice pod snehem a porad plne funkcni. je fakt ze sem se s nim parkrat na miste hned vyfotil a baterky chciply... ten samy den sme pokracovali na zapad pres colorado az do utahu. po ceste sme se stavili v Rifle, colorado se vosprchocat pod vodopadama a ten samej den, mam pocit, ze sme dorazili az ke colorado river par kilaku od Arches national park.

Everything is good.
There is one bad news about the car. Couple of weeks ago a short occured somewhere and since then the little digital clock on the dashboard doesnt go off. never. I thougt its no big deal, but hey...It really causes a tiny, but constant drain and after three weeks of not driving it killed the battery all the way to the point where nothing electrical would even pretend to work...Thos is the very first time the battery ever died on me so I better locate and fix the short when we get back to the little apple. Except that, the car is really good. It got 34 miles to the gallon on the way here and it was pretty loaded with all my shit. That was the best Iv ever got, probably because I changed the spark plugs before I left.
The only known problems are the cracked manifold, damaged or missing piston ring on the first cylinder by now(the oil consuption is about one quart per 1400 miles) and the short... (which also causes the cruise controll problem... it only works when the headlights are off).
Anyway... the cars performance is awesome despite all these minor problems, the odometer reading is now just under 159 000 miles(254 400km)...

tak uz je to tu

moje milovana vera pristala v utery v chicagu a od ty doby sme zase 24 hodin denne spolu, coz je zatim vic nez dobry. Vcera(v sobotu) sme se zas po dlouhy dobe oba podivali do mesta. Moc se toho nezmenilo i kdyz demolice starejch baraku a stavby novejch vyskovejch budov probihaj snad porad. Vecer sme si byli poslechnout blues v jednom klubu kterejch je v chicagu mraky. Hral Maurice John Vaugn se svoji bandou a vazne je to frajer. Jinak dneska to byl nas posledni den tady v Chi townu a rano hoblujem na zapad zpet do manhattanu, kde chcem stravit par dni u me doma, pobejt s kamosema, hrat nejakou hudbu v nasi super music room, mozna zajet na jezero pokud bude fungovat lod, zbalit a vyrazit na road trip.

Od brezna kdy vznikla tahle fotka jsem nebyl ani blizko kopci. Hory v mem zivote vzdy znamenaly strasne moc. Uz kdyz me a segre bylo asi 8 nebo 9 tak sme se vydali s nasima kempovat do Svycarska, kde jsem poprve vstrebaval majestatnost Alp a vubec sem jim nerozumnel. Od ty doby me to tahlo nekam do kopce, pokud mozno az nahoru, kde jsem nastvane zjistil, ze hned ten kopec vedle je vyssi. Postupem casu jsem se s ruznejma lidma podniknul ruzny tury a slezl par bezejmenejch i v mapach presne zakreslenejch vrcholu okolo 4ooom. Pokazdy kdyz myslim na ony vejlety se snazim prijit na to proc sme se trmaceli tak daleko, do kopce celej den...a vzdy se mi vybavi uzasny rozhled a pocit ze vsude kolem vas je Dolu. Podivny, vysokejma stenama zkresleny zvuky potoku, ktery se k Vam dostavaj jen s poryvy vetru, rusi jinak naposto dokonaly ticho. Tak vysoko jen malokdy potkate neco ziveho.
A ted si predstavte ze jste na ture...dlouhy ture... za pul roku potkate tolik lidi jako za jednu navstevu samosky, zdolate pesky 4500 km a to vse ve vysce nad 3500m.n.m. Nemozny?... mozny.... Kontinentalni predel USA se tahne od jihu na sever po hrebenech skalistejch hor od Mexika do Kanady.Snad se mi jednou tenhle sen splni, do ty doby budu stezku sledovat tady.
A nebo si predstavte ze po horach lezete v zime a odmenou Vam je moznost lyzovat nekudy, kde jeste ten den nikdo nejel. a mozna peknejch par dni nikdo nepojede. ale o tom nekdy jindy...

This is just another joke from behind the Great wall... thats what crossed my mind when I first saw it.I thought Im looking at the european Honda Passport, but hey... I wasn't. The "all new" JiangLing Landwind is bringing us some finest chinese engineering. The fact that its pretty much a copy of an existing car woudn't be a surprise(we see that shit everywhere from clothing to electronics), but this automobile is probably the first one ever to get rated zero in passegengers safety in Europe. (including front and side impact)In case of crash, you would think... no big deal, Im in an SUV... well not this one. When the hell are we gonna say no to all the crap China is supplying us with?
Does anyone, who made contract with the chinese to distribute this vehicle in EU understand, that this car is a big waste of materials, energy, time and mabye peoples lifes?How can anyone support that? Someone can say thats its gonna be affordable to low income families. But hey.. Is SUV really a low-cost concept car? Are you sure a low income person is gonna buy a low cost(quality) SUV?

pokud nekoho z vas zajima vyvoj na poli materialu, tenhle clanek je pro Vas. Jiste si nekdo vzpomene na projek Stardust. Nasa se tehda snazila zachytit prach a dalsi bordel poletujici volne ve vesmiru. Chytat prach... nic tezkyho na prvni pohled. Material kterej byl schopnej pohltit a dostatecne zpomalit miniaturni castecky prachu na pomerne male vzdalenosti... hmm.. zajimavy... a to neni vsechno. Narozdil od ostatnich vynalezu, rozumne aplikovatenejch jen v armade a ve vesmiru, aerogel mozna bude vsude kolem nas. Je to totiz i nejlepsi izolant kterej byl kdy objeven. Je to material s nejmensi hustotou. 99% jeho objemu tvori vzduch. Hustota 3kg/m3, vnitrni plocha-1000m2/g. Schopnost izolovat nespociva v nicem jinem nez ve schopnosti pohltit do sebe vzduch a nepustit ho ven. Neizoluje totiz danej matros, ale vzduch v nem.
Aerogel je bezesporu ten nejlepsi izolant. Staci jen doufat ze to nebude trvat dlouho a vyrobky z aerogelu budou k dostani uz brzo. Jen si to predstavte. If you are planning on driving around the world, this is the one to take with you, or should I say let the cruiser take you...
the car comes with all bunch of features which will make your ride comfortable. The ones which impressed me were the rock rails, which'll help you climb over some nasty boulders, badass roof rack, which will allow you to haul all your shit on top of your cruiser and let you hang out inside,multi-information display floating ball type (inclinometer, compass, temperature)...

ok. dalsi den v chicagu. dalsi stena na garazi zbavena stareho nateru. dalsi obycejnej den. Ale aby tenhle den nebyl zas tak obycejnej tak sem hazu linky na dve zajimavy stranky. s letem prichazi taky spousta volnyho casu, kterej se da vyplnit nejak kreativne. ja budu fotit co to pude a pak doufam ze se dostanu do fotokomory, ktera mi tak celej rok schazela.


tahle vec je fakt super. staci jen napad, tiskarna a trochu casu. vysledek je pak vic nez u srdce hrejici. doporucuju neprehazet vytisknuty stranky, a hned je pokud mozno ocislovat, jinak to nikdy nedate dohromady...

stencil revolution je stranka venovana streetartu sablon a spreju. jak dlouho sem se snazil prijit na metodu vyroby kvalitni sablony a bum... tady je...

as I said...
Its really easy to think in both czech and english, so I feel like posting something in czenglish... As these lazy days in chicago pass by, I keep thinking of this whole year as its actually over from the academic status point of view. It was worth it. Iv improved my english, met new peple but more important made a lot of friends, made few really close ones... had the opportunity to study differently and see new things. Im gonna miss it all. Just as much I missed everything I used to do back in Czech. The people, the daily stereotypes... But as much as I think of the past I find myself so unpatient about the future. This summers road trip, the possibility of going to Argentina the next one, Praha...
All these things just drag my attention from the present times...
I just cant wait to get the camera, jump on the train get downtown and freeze the time...
Anyway.... time to go play some giiitar again. I found these cool websites with tabs, music, lessons and videos...
well see what this blog will turn into... It might be the last thing I post or you might actually start finding cool stuff here later on...

ach jo... dalsi leto pred nama...po 6 mesicich kazdodeni prace zjistuju ze sem nenasetril tolik kolik bych si predstavoval...zas mam pocit ze nas nekdo okrada o volnej cas(2 mesice v roce a to je jeste hodne oproti tomu na co ma narok pracujici lid)... pri pohledu do map zjistuju ze se neda stihnout vubec nic i vsechno.... a pak jen ten pocit co kdyz se stane neco necekanyho... nenastartuje auto, dojde voda, dojde benzin ve varici... ztratime se....
ale prave vsechny tyhle myslenky pripravujou muj mozek na dalsi uzasny leto a pokud budu dostatecne dost verit ze vsechno bude v pohode... v pohode to nakonec bude. tak jako vzdycky... a tak jako dycky budu v zari rikat jak to bylo nejlepsi leto v zivote i kdyz nebylo o nic lepsi nez to minuly a predminuly a to dalsi...
zkratka dalsi leto, dalsi moznost podivat se nekam kde sme jeste nebyli i kdyby to melo bejt jen par kilaku od domova... at uz jedete kamkoliv, nebo zustavate kdekoliv, mejte se tam krasne...
